Efektivitas Ekstrak Daun Tembakau (Nicotiana tabacum L) dari Semarang, Temanggung, dan Kendal Sebagai Larvasida Aedes aegypti L

Abstract: Dengue fever (DF) is a health problem in Indonesia. The spread of DF occurs through mosquito vectors. Vector control is one of important methods in dengue prevention. However, the occurence of insecticide resistance leads the need of new inovation of botanical insecticide, such tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L). The research aimed to know larvicidal effectivity of tobacco extracts against Aedes aegypti larvae, and also analyzed nicotine content of tobacco leaves which collected from three sites: Semarang, Temanggu… Show more

“…Utilization of tobacco plants is not only a raw material for cigarettes but can also be used as antioxidants and larvicides (Handayani, S.W., Prastowo, D., Boesri, H., Oktsariyanti, A., Joharina, A.S., 2018), bioinsecticides (Paramartha and Lazurdi, 2013); (Siswoyo, E., Masturah, R., Fahmi, N., 2018), even to soundproofing materials (Fransiska, windy A., Sari, O.K., Hardiansyah, Nugroho, D., 2015). One of the problems in developing tobacco plants is the provision of quality seeds (Rachman, 2007).…”

“…Many of these natural materials used as larvicides and also as attractants. The use of natural materials as biolarvasides which has been scientifically proven to be able to kill mosquito larvae, among others are extracts of grapefruit [15], frangipani leaves [16], tobacco leaves [17] and others, while attractants that are proven capable of attracting mosquitoes to lay eggs (oviposition) are agnasoma leaves with nano particle extraction [18], rice straw (Oryza sativa) soaking water, Goose grass (Eleusine indica) [13] with a 15% soaking water content.…”

“…Tobacco extract has larvicidal activity against Aedes aegypti mosquitoes ( Aji et al 2015). The larvicidal activity of tobacco leaf extract is not directly proportional to the nicotine content in the extract (Handayani et al, 2018). The study by Hidayati et al (2018) showed that tobacco leaf extract has larvicidal solid effects against Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes, with LC50 values of 0.11% and 0.20%, respectively.…”
