ABCTRACT The study evaluated the association between access to social media to feeding behavior, checking and corporal satisfaction of the university community. This is a cross-sectional study conducted with 127 students from Santa Cruz-RN, in which socioeconomic variables, access to social media and influential themes were identified. The Body Checking Questionnaire, the Dutch Food Behavior Questionnaire and the Silhouetted Figures Scale were used. The data were analyzed in the SPSS 21.0 software by the t-test of independent samples, chi-square and Fisher's exact tests, considering 95% confidence. Statistical significance was found in the relationships between nutritional status versus aesthetic status (p = 0.019), income versus esthetics (p = 0.034) and healthy eating (p = 0.031), sex versus general news and classification of nutritional status by Body Mass Index versus general news (p = 0.001). The Instagram leads the level of access involving social media with the themes "aesthetics, healthy eating and general news", which show moderate to very "influential". It is emphasized that aesthetics has a strong influence on the behavior of body check in women and that body perception is strongly associated with Body Mass Index.
