Аіm. To determine the specifics of the formation of millet productivity as well as of grain quality indicators depending on the varietal features and a predecessor under conditions of Polissia. Methods. Field, laboratory, statistical and comparative-calculation methods. The study of the adaptive capacity of the millet varieties “Kharkivske 57” and “Vitrylo“ was conducted during the period of 2018–2020 on the sod-podzolic sandy-loam soils of Polissia. Results. As follows from the results of the study the rational choice of the predecessor promotes to the formation of the millet yield potential of 2.71–3.55 t/hаwith the protein content in seeds – 12.1–13.2 % under favourable conditions in Polissia. The millet variety ”Vitrylo” showed the highest level of the genetic potential realization, its yield was by 0.11–0.28 % t/ha higher as compared with “Kyivske 96” variety depending on a predecessor. Conclusions. The dependence of the formation of millet productivity and of the mass of 1000 seeds depending on the predecessor was studied. On the average the increase in the grain yield during the years of study equaled 0.50–0.73 t/ha under a millet sowing after bare fallow and buckwheat. The cultivation of the varieties “Kyivske 76” and “Vitrylo” after bare fallow and buckwheat promotes to an increase of 1000 seeds mass up to 8.4–9.1 and 9.1–9.3 g respectively. The results of a chemical composition of millet grain depending on the biological varietal features and a predecessor are given. The sowing of the millet varieties “Kyivske 76” and “Vitrylo” after bare fallow promotes to an increase in the amount of protein up to 12.7 and 13.5 % respectively. The study of millet varieties reaction on the innovative elements of the adaptive cultivation technologies under Polissia conditions are prospective.

The urgency of solving the problem of the growth of maize grain production is unconditional, considering the needs of humanity, the economic, and energy efficiency of cultivation technologies, which substantially depends on the types of fertilisers and the frequency of their application. The purpose of this study was to prove the efficiency of maize grain production by perfecting the fertilisation system. Field research was conducted at the “Bohatyrivske” farm in the Romen district of the Sumy Oblast during 2019-2021 on dark grey podsolised soil. Mathematical and statistical processing was performed using the software package SAS 9.4 and “Agrostat 6”. The economic and energy evaluation of technologies was performed using the calculation method. Hybrids are flexible to growing conditions, respond positively to nutrition optimisation – yield varies from 6.07-6.16 in the control to 8.26-8.50 t/ha with carbomidoammonium nitrate 32 on the background of N22Р57К57. With the background application of N22Р57К57, the yield increased by 16.4%. Nitrogen fertilisers over the background provided an added increase in yield by 7.95-18.6%. With the introduction of carbomidoammonium nitrate 32, the yield increase was 2.19 t/ha and 2.44 t/ha or 36.1% and 38.0%, respectively, of the Concord and Asteroid hybrids. The reaction of hybrids to ammonia water and urea is lower compared to carbomidoammonium nitrate. Production costs for growing maize amounted to UAH 20.3-32.3 thous./ha. The introduction of carbomidoammonium nitrate against the background of N22Р57K57 provided a high conditionally net profit – UAH 19.2-19.9 thous./ha. The profitability of maize grain production is quite high – 44-80%. With the addition of Humilin Stimul, the yield increases by 0.23-1.71 t/ha, depending on the combination of fertilisers. With all types of fertilisers, the highest efficiency was obtained with one-time feeding on BBCH 15-17. The coefficient of energy efficiency for the application of fertilisers decreases. The article reflects the results of the research conducted with studies on the performance of maize hybrids and shows the economic efficiency of cultivation of different maize hybrids depending on mineral fertilizer. An important element of sustainable development in global economic development in the beginning of the 21st century, including in the agricultural sector, is the improvement and implementation of new resource-, energy-saving and environmentally friendly technologies. It is proved that use of mineral fertilizers has a positive impact on for formation of grain productivity indicators of maize hybrids. What can be noted with the following statement, the more nitrogen fertilizers were applied the more was the yield. When comparing to the variant without fertilizer corn hybrids yield increased by 83-90% and amounted to 12,18-12,88 t/ha. From this we can conclude that the most promising fertilization system for maize hybrids is the application of cultivation of N128P128K128 with a subsequent addition of nitrogen in a dose of N70 in the phase of 6- 7 leaves of maize providing a gross yield of 12.18-12.88 t/ha of grain with an level of profitability of production 219-232%. In addition it is indicated in the publication of the main aspects of the technology of growing maize on grain, which underlie the improvement of production efficiency indicators first of all, yield, profit and level of profitability.
