“…The interactions between species, particularly with competing weed species, are reported. Most studies investigating the interactions between biowastes and NZ native plants have been conducted in highly controlled glasshouse and laboratory trials (e.g., Xue et al, 2012;Waterhouse et al, 2014;Gutiérrez-Ginés et al, 2017b;Seyedalikhani et al, 2019 with few field studies Parker, 2011;Xue et al, 2015. Most research has used municipal biosolids from three urban areas (Auckland, Kaikoura, or Christchurch), although these biowastes have changed as treatment processes and inputs changed.…”

“…This concurred with Horswell et al (2014), who reported that T-RFLP analyses showed >80 % similarity for the treatments in the Horotiu soil. Tolerance or resistance to triclosan has been demonstrated to occur in in vitro studies (Heath et al 1998;Gomez Escalada et al 2005;Webber et al 2008a;Webber et al 2008b), but several in vivo studies did not find any increase in tolerance after triclosan exposure, including one study where biosolids containing residues of triclosan had been applied to land for 13 years (Cole et al 2003;McBain et al 2004;Ledder et al 2006;Xue et al 2015). In the current study, exposure to triclosan did not increase the tolerance of soil microbes to triclosan.…”
