“…E2F3 (Fig. 3A) was predicted as a primary target of miR-433 and selected for investigation, to further verify its previously reported contribution to NSCLC formation and progression (26)(27)(28)(29)(30). To confirm this hypothesis, luciferase reporter assays were performed using A549 and H460 cells cotransfected with miR-433 mimics or miR-NC and pMIR-Wt-E2F3-3'-UTR or pMIR-Mut-E2F3-3'-UTR.…”

“…E2F3 activation serves important roles in carcinogenesis and progression via the regulation of cell cycle, apoptosis, differentiation, migration and invasion (44)(45)(46). E2F3 is upregulated in NSCLC tissues, cell lines and serum (26,27) and contributes to the regulation of NSCLC initiation and progression (28)(29)(30). Hence, targeting E2F3 may provide novel and promising therapies for this aggressive cancer in particular.…”

“…In view of the results we had achieved, we consulted literature to verify our findings. E2F3 mRNA levels were significantly higher in lung cancer patients in comparison with non‐cancerous lung tissues and its overexpression was related to poor prognosis . Also, CDC6 has been confirmed to be linked to DNA replication to regulate the occurrence and development of lung tumor .…”

“…Moreover, E2F3 plays an important role in determining the time of the G1/S transition and the rate of DNA synthesis [24,25]. Early studies demonstrated that E2F3 is oncogenic in various human cancers, including breast, bladder, lung and prostate cancer [18,19,26]. E2F3 is essential in promoting the proliferation of ovarian cancer cells by initiating integral signaling of the EGFR-driven cell response [27].…”
