E-commerce system quality assessment using a model based on ISO 9126 and Belief Networks

Abstract: As business transitions into the new economy, e-system successful use has become a strategic goal. Especially in business to consumer (e-commerce) applications, users highly evaluate the quality of their interactive shopping experience. However, quality is difficult to define and measure and most importantly, it is difficult to measure its impact on the end-user. Among the many research questions that arise, some of the most important concern the exact nature of the quality attributes that define an e-commerce… Show more

“…This is mainly answered by the users; they are usually mainly concerned with the set of available functions (addressed by the Functionality quality characteristic of ISO9126) and their quality (addressed by Quality in Use) [3], [15]. We extend the model presented in [11] to include a more comprehensive link between the processes of software analysis and design and the production and use of the system quality map. We further configure the model to address LBS specific quality issues.…”

“…A qualitative connection of these components to the characteristics of ISO 9126 is possible in order to pinpoint how each component should be assessed. The result of this step is the definition of a model -quality map of the LBS subsystem [11], [12].…”

“…Drawing from the earlier research that of Jin and Kim (2010), Cullen andTaylor (2009), Fathian et al (2008), Stefani and Xenos (2008) and Ramanathan (2012), among others, and the selection/findings in a focus group session, Tables 1-1 and 1-2 list the candidate (primary) critical success measuring criteria; these criteria were also used as the survey questionnaire content. The majority of the criteria apply to both the selling and the buying functions; however, as demonstrated in Table 1 Jin and Kim, 2010;Fathian et al, 2008;Stefani and Xenos, 2008;Ramanathan, 2012;Ramanathan, 2010;Pramatari et al, 2009;Lai and Yang, 2009;Weathers and Makienko, 2006;Coltman et al, 2007;Sung, 2006;Lee and Kozar, 2006 2 E-commerce systems can provide timely, effective, accurate and detailed information Stefani and Xenos, 2008;Pramatari et al, 2009;Sebora et al 2009;Weathers and Makienko, 2006;Wu et al, 2011;Lee and Kozar, 2006 3 Easy use of the system is secured Jin and Kim, 2010;Stefani and Xenos, 2008;Pramatari et al, 2009;Lai and Yang, 2009;Sebora et al, 2009;Weathers and Makienko, 2006;Sung, 2006;Lee and Kozar, 2006 4 The stability of the system and of the network is secured Sung, 2006;Hu, 2011;Chang and Liu, 2006 5 Trust and confidence have been established between enterprises doing business using the system Jin and ...…”

“…In figure 7 the six sets of characteristics, including subcharacteristics, of the ISO 9126 quality model are shown. ISO 9126 is not only useful for the evaluation, but also for the specification of quality (Stefani, 2008). As far as the functions/services of software products are the artifacts that enable and support value object transfers, the external metrics suggested by ISO 9126 could be used as the technical means for analyzing the quality of value object transfers at IS level (see Section 3.3).…”
