“…For chromium and vanadium, the collision cell was not available at this period of time. A specific method was subsequently developed for plasma mercury owing to a memory effect in this matrix (18). Owing to unsuitable vials, plasma lead was not measured in this latter study.…”

“…For vanadium and chromium determination, a collision cell technology was used (ICP -MS-CCT), as recently described (17). Owing to a memory effect in the torch, plasma mercury was quantified separately using a specific technique (18). The limit of quantification (LOQ) was performed again on ultrapure reagent blanks based on the usual criteria for LOQ of 10 blank standard deviation.…”

“…Ceci améliore de manière importante la spécificité de la mesure, surtout dans le sang total. Quant au mercure plasmatique rappelons qu'il s'agit du seul dosage qui n'est pas réalisé en mode multiélé-mentaire [2]. Enfin, la détermination du brome dans le plasma et le sang total est semi-quantitative.…”

“…To explore mercury exposure linked to dental amalgam it is essential to analyze the plasmatic mercury that reflects mineral mercury by using an individual ICP-MS specific test, whereas whole blood mercury, included in the multi-elemental panel, is linked to seafood intake containing MeHg [74]. Nevertheless, the European Scientific Committee on Emerging and Newly Identified Health Risks (SCENIHR), in their report regarding the safety of dental amalgam, have concluded that the use of mercury for dental restoration was safe: "However, with respect to the debate about the possibility of causal relationships between the use of mercurycontaining amalgam and a wide variety of adverse systemic health effects and taking into account many studies and investigations into this putative causal link, there is no unequivocal evidence to support this possibility" [75];…”
