Dispersed Uniform Nanoparticles from a Macroscopic Organosilica Powder

Abstract: A colloidal dispersion of uniform organosilica nanoparticles could be produced via the disassembly of the non-surfactant-templated organosilica powder nanostructured folate material (NFM-1). This unusual reaction pathway was available because the folate and silica-containing moieties in NFM-1 are held together by noncovalent interactions. No precipitation was observed from the colloidal dispersion after a week, though particle growth occurred at a solvent-dependent rate that could be described by the Lifshitz-… Show more

“…These peaks are not present in the solvent extracted samples. Analysis of the extracted templates was conducted by Hedin et al., observing that the folate template of NFM‐1 remains self‐assembled after the extraction process. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images show that NFM‐1 (Figure a) is composed of twisted hexagonal rods as long as 50 μm.…”

“…As control, mesoporous MCM-41 with achiral pores is used. Analysis of the extracted templates was conducted by Hedin et al, [8] observing that the folate template of NFM-1 remains self-assembled after the extraction process.Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images show that NFM-1 (Figure 1a)i s composed of twisted hexagonal rods as long as 50 mm. Samples of aNFM-1 and aNGM-1s how as harp diffraction peak at 26.8 and 26.58 8 2q respectively,c orresponding to the tetramer stacking distance of the supramolecular template inside the pores.…”

In contrast, NGM-1 particles ( Figure 1b)d on ot show any visible helical features and the morphology can be described as straight needle shaped particles of between 0.5-2 mmi n length.…”

“…The release profiles of both MTX-NPs and MTX-CFs at different pH values are given in Supplementary Material Supplementary Figures S6-S9. The nanometrically dispersed MTX-NPs obtained from this study, with improved bioavailability, showed many remarkable advantages and features over other conventional formulations (Narayani and Rao, 1994;Nazar et al, 2011b;Church et al, 2018). Moreover, the MTX-NPs prepared from optimal μE systems can be used as a promising and efficient platform for improving the oral absorption and bioavailability of hydrophobic drugs.…”
