Direction and symmetry transition of the vector order parameter in topological superconductors CuxBi2Se3

Abstract: Topological superconductors have attracted wide-spreading interests for the bright application perspectives to quantum computing. Cu 0.3 Bi 2 Se 3 is a rare bulk topological superconductor with an odd-parity wave function, but the details of the vector order parameter d and its pinning mechanism are still unclear. Here, we succeed in growing Cu x Bi 2 Se 3 single crystals with unprecedented high doping levels. For samples with x = 0.28, 0.36 and 0.37 with similar carrier density as evidenced by the Knight shif… Show more

“…Several years ago topological superconductivity in the bulk of doped topological insulator (TI) A x Bi 2 Se 3 was discovered [1][2][3]. Dopant atom A can be Cu [1][2][3][4][5][6][7], Sr [8][9][10][11][12][13] or Nb [14][15][16][17]. Superconducting phase in these materials shows C 2 rotational symmetry that breaks C 3 symmetry of the normal state.…”

“…While topological superconductivity represents a topical area of quantum matter which currently attracts great attention, this domain is beyond our consideration and the reader is referred to dedicated reviews [636][637][638] and original works. [639][640][641][642][643][644] In what follows, a brief mentioning of topological superconductors will be restricted to those in curvilinear geometries.…”

“…helically wound around a cylinder have also been intensively explored for improving the performance of power transmission cables. [676,677] • Topological superconductors in curvilinear geometries: In the recent years, a great deal of experimental and theoretical work has been concerned with topological superconductors, see for example, recent works [639][640][641][642][643][644] and references therein.…”

“…However, only a small part of scattering events contribute to the pair breaking mechanism [23]. Excessive Cu doping of Bi 2 Se 3 brings additional defects into the system that leads to a slight decrease of critical temperature with the increased doping [24,25].…”
