Direct comparison of rest and adenosine stress myocardial perfusion CT with rest and stress SPECT

Abstract: Introduction-We have recently described a technique for assessing myocardial perfusion using adenosine-mediated stress imaging (CTP) with dual source computed tomography. SPECT myocardial perfusion imaging (SPECT-MPI) is a widely utilized and extensively validated method for assessing myocardial perfusion. The aim of this study was to determine the level of agreement between CTP and SPECT-MPI at rest and under stress on a per-segment, per-vessel, and per-patient basis.

“…The accuracy in the detection of ischemia was investigated by several studies which compared stressrest CCT with SPECT and CMR demonstrating a good agreement and similar sensitivity and specificity (30)(31)(32)(51)(52)(53)(91)(92)(93)(94). In particular, stress perfusion CCT may refine the diagnostic accuracy of CCT alone (52), with increased sensitivity from 83% to 91% and specificity from 71% to 91%.…”

“…Okada et al compared rest and stress (with use of a pharmacological vasodilator such as dipyridamole or adenosine) myocardial CT perfusion with rest and stress single photon emission CT (SPECT) perfusion [34]. In their study, they reported a good correlation between CT and SPECT in the detection of myocardial perfusion defects.…”
