Differing energy densities with laser 670 nm InGaP controls inflammation and collagen reorganization in burns

Abstract: The energy density of 9.86J/cm was more effective in promoting cellular responses related to neoangiogenesis, decreasing inflammation and collagen fibers reorganization.

“…The difference between the results of MMP9 gene expression in the studies can be explained by the use of different laser sources, energy intensity, wavelength, as well as the data analysis timing (short or long term). The findings are compatible with the study by Maligieri et al 18 that used different energy densities for treatment. In addition, there are indications that MMP9 may play a role in physiological and pathological tissue remodeling of central nervous system through a new regulatory pathway of TGF-β1 in brain astrocytes 18 .…”

“…Resolvin D2 has recently been found to restore burn neutrophil directionality and can reduce neutrophil numbers and minimise secondary necrosis in burns [85,86]. The use of phototherapy has been shown to significantly reduce the number of immune cells within a rat burn wound, increasing angiogenesis and collagen deposition [87] and may herald a new area of research for the development of devices to treat burn wounds. Novel biomaterials are also being investigated in the treatment of burn injuries, not only to provide a provisional matrix or augment skin grafting, but are also being assessed for their ability to modulate the immune response [88].…”

“…Prolongation and expansion of the inflammatory phase is the most important factor in scar formation [36]. Scar formation is affected by the depth of the burn, the duration of the healing, the development of infection, the age of the patient, genetic factors, circulatory disturbances, or the development of diseases that suppress the immune system [37].…”
