Differential flight behaviour of Oscinella spp. (Diptera, Chloropidae)

Abstract: Studies on the flight behaviour of Oscinella vastator (Curt.), O. pusilla (Mg), and O. frit (L.) were carried out in a 6 year old crop of perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne) in Jutland, Denmark. Blue sticky traps were exposed at three heights: 0 cm, 20 cm, and 40 cm above ground level. O. frit was trapped in equal numbers at all levels, but a significantly lower number of O. vastator and O. pusilla was trapped above the crop than at ground level.
