Different ethylene production in vitro by several species and formae speciales of Fusarium

Abstract: The ethylene production of several Fusarium species and formae speciales in vitro was measured under comparable conditions. All of them produced ethylene. Fusarium oxysporum Schlecht. ex Fr. f. tulipae Apt. produced much more than the other 18 strains investigated.

“…Swart and Kamerbeek (1976) found the production of this compound in over 20 species and forms of Fusarium type, K~p-czyfiska and K~pczyfiski (1995) -in Alternaria, Stopifiska and Kuik (1991) in Ceratocystisfimbriata. Volpin and El ad ( 1991), trying to explain the inhibiting influence of calcium on the infection of rose flowers by Botrytis cinerea, also investigated the effect of this cation on the ethylene production.…”

“…16,292.1 lakhs during 2010-2011. In spite of the highest area (22,05,000 ha), the mango productivity is getting reduced from 1991-92 (8.1 mt/ha) to 2010-2011 (6.6 mt/ ha). 1 This is because mango production is badly hit by various diseases such as gummosis, internal necrosis, dieback, sooty-mold, black-tip, anthracnose, powdery mildew 2 and, among those, malformation in mango is the most important and threatening disease of recent times causing considerable damage to the mango orchards worldwide.…”
