“…The competence or recalcitrance to somatic embryogenesis of Eucalyptus depends on the genetic factor [32,101,102]. However, accurate regulation of chromatin modifications in response to developmental and environmental stimuli regulates the precise temporal and spatial gene expression [53,100,103].…”

“…Nonetheless, constant disclosure of the Eucalyptus explant to the PGRs (especially auxins such as NAA and 2,4-D) has an adverse impact on the physiology and morphology of propagated plants, such as fasciation, dwarfism, hyperhydricity, somaclonal variation, or structure distortion [38,82,103]. During SE initiation, auxins play an important role in a stress component and auxin signaling and could change the auxin content in Eucalyptus [27,103,120]. The positive interaction of the oxidation of callogenic tissue with embryogenic calli formation has been reported in cotyledonary of E. urophylla × E. grandis [52].…”

“…Several similar studies have indicated the efficiency of this vegetative rescue method using epicormic shoots, such as in Ilex paraguariensis (Wendling et al 2013), Eucalyptus benthamii (Baccarin et al 2015), E. cloeziana (Oliveira et al 2015) and E. pilularis (Avelar et al 2020). According to Kuppusamy et al (2019) and Esposito-Polesi et al (2020), the use of this technique is especially important for germplasm conservation and the selection of superior individuals, in which a vegetative rescue is typically performed at the adult stage and propagation may be limited due to the ontogenetic age. Kratz et al (2016) reported that in situations in which vegetative rescues are performed in plants with high genetic value, the application of this method is indicated, considering the low interference of branch collection from the selected plant and ensuring the highest possible survival of the selected individuals.…”

“…Nesse contexto, verifica-se que o desenvolvimento in vitro depende de diferentes fatores e da interação destes, e a resposta pode variar não somente de acordo com a espécie, mas entre genótipos da mesma espécie e até mesmo entre fontes de explantes de um mesmo genótipo (Cordeiro et al 2014;Esposito-Polesi et al 2018).…”
