Differences in the feeding of Rhamdia quelen (Siluriformes, Heptapteridae) in four distinct lotic systems

Abstract: The aim of this study was to compare the food composition of Rhamdia quelen in four distinct order rivers. It was performed at a low part at the basin of the Sorocaba river in systems classified as first (Anastácio stream), second (Nego stream), fifth (Tatuí river) and sixth (Sorocaba river) orders. Collections were performed every month between January and December of 2011. The stomach contents were examined by using the alimentary index (IAi) and compared by the non-parametric method non-metric multidimensio… Show more

“…Thus, in degraded habitats, omnivores would be more represented than specialists (Karr et al, 1986). The captured species considered omnivorous were: Pimelodella laticeps (García et al, 2017), Rhamdia quelen (Gomes et al, 2000;Villares Junior & Goitein, 2015), Corydoras paleatus (Escalante, 1983), Loricariichthys anus (Rosso, 2006), Hypostomus commersoni (Menni, 2004), Astyanax fasciatus (Esteves, 1996;Vilella et al, 2002), Astyanax eigenmanniorum (Vilella et al, 2002), Bryconamericus iheringii (Lampert et al, 2004;Kokubun et al, 2018), Cheirodon interruptus (Escalante, 1987), Cyphocharax voga (Diovisalvi et al, 2010;Fernandez et al, 2012), Cyprinus carpio (Colautti & Remes Lenicov, 2001), Jenynsia multidentata (Iglesias et al, 2008;Quintans et al, 2009), Cnesterodon decemmaculatus (Quintans et al, 2009) and Mugil platanus (Oliveira & Soares, 1996).…”

“…Thus, the aim of this study was to investigate the effects of EUG and EOL (at concentrations able to induce only sedation in fish) on metabolic responses and AChE activity, as well as to analyze the oxidative parameters (TBARS and PC levels) and enzymatic (GST) antioxidant activity in silver catfish after four hours of transport. The silver catfish was chosen because it is the main native species raised in fish cultures of southern Brazil (Baldisserotto et al, 2010;Villares Junior and Goitein, 2015). for four hours.…”
