Polymer complexes of aminoglycoside antibiotics as bases with low molecular weight water-soluble copolymers of acrylamide (ACR) with acrylic (AA) and methacrylic (MA) acids containing 15 -20 mol% carboxyl groups were synthesized. Complexes of antibiotics with ACR-MA copolymers were found to be more stable in aqueous and aqueous salt solutions and to have less toxicity in vitro than complexes based on ACR-AA copolymers. All polymer complexes retained high levels of antibacterial activity.

The effect of the structure of polysaccharides containing ionogenic groups on the properties of proteolytic enzymes included in the structure of polyelectrolyte complexes was investigated. A correlation was established between the composition of the polymer composites containing the proteolytic enzyme, the antimicrobial, and the modifying additives and the properties of the fibre and film materials prepared from them.Natural and chemical fibres and films are widely used in medicine, but not only traditional but also special polymeric materials with special properties are required for fabrication of products for medical applications in many cases. The development of methods of fabricating biologically active materials is one of the traditional directions of scientific research in the Department of Chemical Fibre Engineering at Moscow State Textile Academy.The creation of a modem generation of dressings with healing properties is currently a pressing problem. The problem of accelerating wound healing can be solved most effectively by using materials with a prolonged proteol2r and bactericidal action. The general principles for the creation of such materials are examined in [1,2]. Enzymes and antimicrobials can be immobilized in both modified and in unmodified fibre materials and by incorporation of biologically active substances in the structure of the polymeric material.We know [3] that the properties of enzymes can be regulated by using polyelectrolytes that form polyelectrolyte complexes (PEC) as a result of an interpolymer reaction with the protein macromolecules and stabilize the enzyme against the effect of different denaturing factors (pH, temperature, etc.) for their modification. Our data [4][5][6][7][8] showed that when graft copolymers of cellulose containing ionogenic groups are used for immobilization of enzymes, the required properties are basically obtained by altering the type, concentration, and localization of the ionogenic groups in the structure of the fibre. For unmodified fibre materials, this problem could be solved by using polymer matrices of varying structure, composites of different composition which include polysaccharides and their derivatives containing ionogenic groups in addition to biologically active substances, water-soluble synthetic polymers, and polyfunctional low-molecular-weight reagents [9][10][11][12][13].
