The low nutrients levels available in pasture formation reduces the forage yield. Soil correction and fertilization practices are considered priorities in the planning, renovation or recovery of pastures. The aimed of this experiment was to evaluate the effect of nitrogen and phosphate fertilization rate in productivity of the Panicum maximum cv. BRS Zuri. The experimental design was a randomized block design in a 3×4 factorial arrangement, with three doses of superphosphate (0.0, 80.0 and 160.0 kg.ha-1) and four doses of ammonium nitrate (0.0; 20.0; 40.0 and 60.0 kg.ha-1), with three replicates. The following parameters were evaluated at 120 days after implantation: green mass and dry matter yield, plant height, number of plants and tillers per square meter. The doses of 80.0 and 160.0 kg.ha-1 of P2O5 and 60.0 kg.ha-1 of nitrogen combined to each other showed the best results for forage yield.

O capim-marandu (Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu) destaca-se como uma das principais gramíneas forrageiras utilizadas no Brasil, reconhecida por sua mediana exigência em fertilidade, resistência à cigarrinha das pastagens e pela redução lenta do valor nutritivo, pelo florescimento tardio. Diante desse contexto, o aumento da produção de pastagens tem representado um desafio significativo para os produtores. Nesse sentido, o objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a resposta da produção de capim-marandu com diferentes doses de adubação nitrogenada, na forma de ureia, aplicada em cobertura. O experimento foi realizado em Campo Bonito - PR, em outubro de 2017. Foram testados cinco tratamentos, variando as doses de nitrogênio (N) em 0, 50, 100, 150 e 200 kg ha-1, utilizando um delineamento de blocos casualizados, com quatro repetições. As variáveis avaliadas foram altura das plantas, perfilhamento e produção de matéria seca da parte aérea. A análise dos efeitos das doses foi realizada por meio de análise de regressão, selecionando o modelo com base na significância dos coeficientes da equação de regressão ajustada e nos valores do coeficiente de determinação (R2) associado a cada modelo. Os resultados indicaram que, conforme aumentava a dose de N aplicada, até 200 kg ha-1, as plantas de Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu apresentaram maior altura, maior perfilhamento e maior produção de matéria seca da parte aérea. A maior dose de adubação nitrogenada proporcionou, em média, plantas 80 % mais altas (72 cm) que aquelas que não receberam tal adubação (40 cm). Portanto, o nitrogênio exerce influência na formação de biomassa, resultando em um aumento de produtividade e pastagens com maior valor nutritivo.
