Development and implementation of control algorithms for a photovoltaic system

Abstract: Photovoltaic (PV) system is one of the energy generation systems and produces direct current. The PV output is depending on solar irradiation and temperature. The arrangement of PV cells in series or in parallel, known as PV array. Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) techniques like Incremental Conductance (Inc Cond) with fixed step size is used to extract maximum power from a PV system. Inc Cond control algorithm is compared with a MPPT PI controller. DC DC Boost converter steps up and regulates the PV output… Show more

“…Solar energy is converted in electrical energy with imposement of solar radiation on the solar panels due to the phenomenon called 'photo electric effect' [31][32][33]. Here, 6 panels are grouped together by forming of an array with the pair of 2 series-series and such 3 parallel arrangements for obtaining the maximum optimum output voltage and current.…”

“…The maximum power of the PV array changes with shading and/or climatic conditions. Thus, an important challenge in a PV system is to ensure that maximum energy is generated from the PV array with a dynamic variation of its output characteristic when connected to a variable load [4].…”
