Determination and Speciation of Aluminum in Soil Extracts by High-Performance Liquid Chromatography with Fluorescence Detection Using 5-Sulfo-8-quinolinol

Abstract: Cation exchange and size exclusion high-performance liquid-chromatographic methods with postcolumn fluorescence detection using 5-sulfo-8-quinolinol were applied to the chemical speciation of aluminum in soil-extract samples. The addition of an appropriate amount of F-to the postcolumn reagent solution makes it possible to eliminate the interference of F-in a sample with A13+ detection. The reliability of this method was evaluated by a computer-assisted equilibrium calculation for aluminum species and ICP atom… Show more

“…[3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10] On the other hand, because of the complexity of a real sample, the chromatographic separation of the target metallic element species was usually necessary for its speciation. [11][12][13][14][15] In this study, the interaction of lanthanum with ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA), which has donor atoms of nitrogen and oxygen, and may be considered as a model ligand existing in the environment, and with Ltryptophen (Try) as the basic unit of a protein, were studied by the cation-exchange HPLC coupled with ESI-MS. The stability of La species during a cation-exchange chromatographic separation process is also discussed in this paper for obtaining accurate information on lanthanum speciation.…”

“…5 illustrates how reflectance changed with the incidence angle for a monochromatic beam traveling through air-silica interface. It was obtained by numerical simulation of Fresnel's complete equation (1). When the incidence angle <60 • , the reflectance was low and it changed slowly.…”

“…Fluorescence detection has been one of the most sensitive and selective detection schemes available for capillary flow systems, such as flow injection analysis (FIA), capillary electrophoresis (CE), and microcolumn liquid chromatography (-LC) [1][2][3]. Lightemitting diode (LED) has many advantages including long lifetime, high stability, small in size, and low cost.…”
