There are microbial communities in and on the bodies of all multicellular organisms, and this microbiota can have a significant impact on the biology of the host. Most studies have focused on the microbiome of the skin, mouth, and gut, whereas relatively little is known about the reproductive microbiome. From the perspective of the bovine reproductive tract, uterine diseases such as metritis and endometritis are traditionally viewed to result only from interactions occurring between the host animal and pathogens originating from either the environment or ascension from the vagina. This outdated opinion has been refuted by recent advanced studies that propose that, in addition to bacteria colonization through the extrinsic and ascending pathways to the vagina, bacteria can also move from the gut to the uterus, which is also associated with reproductive tract disorders. This has led to the concept of the “endogenous route hypothesis”, which has vital inferences for comprehending the etiology of metritis and endometritis. Furthermore, it has opened up the possibility of developing new prophylactic and therapeutic agents as alternatives to antimicrobial agents. In addition, the unveiling of next-generation sequencing technology makes it more convenient to perform detailed sequencing and analysis of data on the cervical, vaginal, and uterine flora and to further study uncultured bacteria in these niches—most importantly, the cervical niche, which previously was thought to have lower bacterial complexity. Research conducted to date has proven that the composition of microflora in a community varies widely between environmental sites, host niches, and health status. Furthermore, it has also been suggested that the occurrence of endometritis in the dairy and beef cattle reproductive tract is neither casual nor indirect but multifactorial. Whether disturbance in the variety of the microflora in the reproductive tract (dysbiosis) has a role in determining the sensitivity to metritis and endometritis is not yet known. This article outlines the current progress in understanding the microflora with regards to the bovine reproductive tract. The compositions of microflora in various niches of the reproductive tract are briefly elucidated. In addition, the functional role of these microflora communities in the reproductive tract is discussed, with particular emphasis on the association of bacterial flora with reproductive disorders and failures. Finally, prophylaxis and therapeutic approaches based on the new comprehension of the effects of antimicrobials, probiotics, and bacteriophages on the composition of the reproductive tract microflora are also considered.

The purpose of our study is to study the functional morphology of the Corpus Luteum (CL) of the ovaries of pregnant and infertile cows in normal and pathological conditions. For that purpose, the ovaries of cows were examined after slaughter, histological and histochemical examination of the CL was carried out. For the antemortem examination of the ovary, the biopsy method developed by us was used. The effect of the synthetic analogy of prostaglandin F2α-Klatiram was studied experimentally. It was established that the CL and luteal formations of the ovaries of those animals had significant changes in structure, which allowed us to develop morphological markers for diagnosing their morphofunctional state. It was found that the mass and size of the CL increases by two months, decreases by three months and then remain relatively stable. There is a growth of antral follicles that reach a size of more than 1 cm and then they undergo atresia of the obliteration type. The CL of the ovary cycle reaches its maximum development in the first ten or twelve days. Later, against the background of venous hyperemia and atrophic changes, it decreases, the lobulation of the parenchyma disappears and the vessels sclerose (the stage of involution). A method of biopsy of the bovine ovaries has been developed. The use of this method, with the experimental introduction of a synthetic analog of prostaglandin F2a, has proved that luteolytic processes in the CL of the ovary cycle develop due to violations of the microcirculatory bloodstream, development of necrobiotic processes in the parenchyma and stromal vascular dystrophy of the mesenchyma of the gland.

The postpartum period plays a crucial role in restoring reproductive function and, consequently, the milk productivity of cows. Its importance lies in the fact that it marks the transition from pregnancy and birth to lactation and preparation for new fruiting. The course of puerperium depends on the condition of the mother's body, the course of pregnancy and childbirth, feeding conditions, maintenance, care and operation. In this regard, the aim of the work was to develop a program for predicting the course of the postpartum period in cows. The development of the program for predicting the course of the postpartum period in cows was carried out with the participation and advice of employees of the Department of Veterinary Reproductology of Kharkiv State Zooveterinary Academy on the basis of "Peremoha AVK" MVC "Ekaterinoslavsky" Dnipro district of Dnipropetrovsk region. The study is conducted in the late dry period (last 2-3 weeks of pregnancy). Obtained by the results of clinical, laboratory (morphological and biochemical) and special (sonographic) studies, the evaluation parameters were part of the algorithm developed on the principle of database management system in MS Exel program – indicators for assessing the clinical condition of the animal, homeostasis, completeness of feeding and activity movement of the cow, the condition of her breast and fetoplacental complex (fetal weight, placental size, diameter of the middle uterine artery) and colpocytograms. Each indicator corresponds to two variants of objective values with their own scale. The conclusion is determined by the sum of points for all items of the program. To do this, you only need to enter certain information into the program that determines one or another option: the sum of scores 51- 100 indicates a low probability of pathological processes, less than 50 – high. The use of the program itself makes it possible to obtain objective information and timely take appropriate measures to prevent the occurrence and development of pathological processes, maintaining the health and life of women in labor.
