Design of dual‐monopole slots antenna integrated with monopole strip for wireless wide area network mobile handset

Abstract: An internal antenna for penta‐band wireless wide area network (WWAN 824–960/1710–2170 MHz) operation in the mobile handset is presented. By integrating two monopole slots with a monopole strip printed on the top portion of the main circuit board, the monopole slots generate their quarter‐wavelength slot modes for the antenna's lower band, whereas the monopole strip can contribute quarter‐wavelength resonant modes for the antenna's upper band. The monopole strip serves as a feed for the monopole slots and also … Show more

“…2b. Note that the 3:1 voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) is widely used as the design specification of the LTE/WWAN mobile antennas [17][18][19][20]. When the PIN diode is OFF (state 1), it can cover GSM850/DCS/PCS/ UMTS2100/LTE2300/2500 operating bands.…”

“…However, the slot antenna has difficulty covering the low-frequency bands by a single resonance [4]. To overcome this problem, various researches using multi-resonance at the lower frequency band have been studied [5][6][7][8][9]. In these studies, multi-resonance characteristic was achieved by using capacitive coupling feed.…”
