Design of an environmentally friendly leather-like fabric based on thermoplastic polyurethane covered yarn

Abstract: By means of knitting and weaving, the new yarn was woven into a new eco-friendly leatherette. A series of research methods and data are summarized through the optimization and improvement of the design process and the heat-setting treatment of the fabric after weaving, which will bring a breakthrough in the reform of the preparation, research and development of new environmentally-friendly materials and product application. The new environmentally-friendly imitation leather fabrics is superior to similar produ… Show more

“…In case of sudden narrowing, equation ( 6) is used to calculate the pressure loss, which requires the determination of the coefficients ζ and ε (local resistance and compression). The formula (3) is used to determine the coefficient ε, where n = F 2 /F 1 -the ratio between the areas of holes in a narrow section and a wide section (23)(24)(25):…”

“…K. Pandey et al [23] noted that the use of new methods of processing textile materials may require additional attention to the technological aspects and control of the hydrothermal treatment process. This means the need to train personnel and create more complex systems to ensure the stability and reliability of the production process.…”

“…This may be a single layer or multiple layers introduced at intervals, allowing the hyphae to grow in between the woven fibers, fusing the layers within the structure of the material. Alternatively, a textile layer can be applied after the material has been treated using an adhesive (Wang et al 2022).…”

“…TPU can also meet current requirements such as anti-static properties, increased resistance to abrasion, flexibility at low temperatures and anti-microbial activity, and the most important property is the one relating to comfort. These properties can be improved by using compatibilizing agents (polyethylene-graft-maleic anhydride-PE-g-MA) and reinforcement agents (with natural fibres modified with polydimethylsiloxane) [26,27]. PE-g-MA improves the properties of polymeric biocomposites such as tensile strength, tear strength, resistance to chemical agents, etc.…”
