Design of a multi-octave power amplifier with a novel broadband design methodology

Abstract: This paper presents a multi-octave power amplifier based on a modified simplified real frequency method. The approximate range of the optimal impedance of the transistor in the wide band on the Smith chart is obtained by the load-pull technique, and the coincidence degree of the optimal impedance value and the input impedance value of the matching circuit is taken as a new optimization objective and added into the algorithm. Then the improved algorithm is used to design the amplifier's wideband matching circui… Show more

“…Continuous mode PA is one of the effective ways to expand its working bandwidth while ensuring high efficiency [11,12,13]. It expands the impedance space of its fundamental wave and harmonics by introducing parameters, but in the actual design, it can be realized with the aid of real-frequency algorithms [14,15].…”

“…For wireless communication systems, it is essential to design power amplifiers (PA) for a variety of applications [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9]. Nowadays, it is a common practice to employ Gallium Nitrate (GaN) transistors due to their high-power delivery capacity [10][11][12][13].…”
