Design centering methods for yield optimization of cryoelectronic circuits

Abstract: We present the results of comparison of different design centering methods, e.g. simplicial approximation method and centers-of-gravity method. The effectiveness of the proposed yield optimization strategies is demonstrated by application to various RSFQ circuits and analytical test functions. A SPICEtype program which includes the possibilities of analog behavior modeling and transient noise simulation was used €or circuit simulation. Based on these methods, an interactive yield optimization framework for cryo… Show more

“…In COWBOY/PSCAN, XOPT, and ABAK, a special HDL is used to describe the correct operation of the circuit. Various languages are used for this purpose: PSCAN uses a customdesigned notation called SFQHDL [54], XOPT employs a subset of VHDL called HDL-A [50], and ABAK makes use of the general purpose object-oriented programming language C++ [51]. The exact rules for describing correct circuit behavior vary from notation to notation.…”

“…COWBOY is currently an integral part of the PSCAN simulation environment [23], while rtry is a stand-alone tool using JSim for simulation. The second group includes MALT developed at the University of Rochester [17], [47], [48], XOPT developed at the University of Ilmenau (Germany) [49], [50], and ABAK [51] developed at the University of Karlsruhe (Germany). All of these tools use yield as the figure of merit being optimized.…”

“…In our case, there is no previous knowl- edge about the future operation modes and equal weighting coefficients ␣ϭ␤ϭ␥ϭ1/3 are used. In the standard procedure of circuit design, the values of its constitutive elements are derived from a yield-driven optimization 14 which in our case led to L 1 ϭ3.8 pH and I b ϭ180 A, respectively. The switching error rates of these parameters can be obtained from Eq.…”
