Design and Implementation of Portable Smart Wireless Pedestrian Crossing Control System

Abstract: Walking is a daily activity that requires an appropriate crosswalk as a key part of the provision of safe transportation infrastructure. In this paper, we design and develop a portable smart wireless control system for pedestrian crossing areas to manage the traffic automatically and allow the pedestrian, like school children, to cross the road safely and effortlessly. The system incorporates the concept of smart sensing to detect the presence of pedestrians and in turn, automatically controls the crosswalk tr… Show more

“…The devices also tend to transmit the raw sensing data to its manufacturer for detailed data mining inside the remote data center [26]. Some other use cases entail explicit requirement of transmitting sensor data over the communication network, such as [27] for baby monitoring empowering smart cradle, and [28] for a pedestrian crossing control system. Assistance required from communication networks for few applications has hard QoS bounds to ensure the infrastructure's safety and security, such as mentioned in [29] for smart grids.…”

“…The HO procedure consumes significant system resources, and the intended UE may experience substantial system delays and performance deterioration. Therefore, HO should not randomly occur [ 17 , 18 ]. Additionally, the use of mm waves in 5G technology is the dominant factor that impacts mobility [ 19 , 20 ].…”
