This work had analyzed the contribution of scientific studies developed in regard to the environmental impacts of using wood pallets. This analysis utilized a systematic review from the available literature found on four important databases: Scielo, Science Direct, Web of Knowledge and CAPES. There is still not a representative number of studies performed concerning the environmental impacts of wood pallets and only 5 countries stand out as key players: USA, Italy, India, Iran and the Netherlands. It was demonstrated that there exist prospects which could be applied to mitigate the environment and cost impacts of wood pallets, regarding alternative materials, logistical strategies and practices of maintenance, re-use and recycling.

Automotive rubber products are subjected to large deformations during working conditions, they often contact with other parts and they show highly nonlinear material behavior. Using finite element software for complex analysis of rubber parts can be a good way, although it has to contain special modules. Different types of rubber materials require the curve fitting possibility and the wide range choice of the material models. It is also important to be able to describe the viscoelastic property and the hysteresis. The remeshing possibility can be a useful tool for large deformation and the working circumstances require the contact and self contact ability as well. This article compares some types of the finite element software available on the market based on the above mentioned features.

Although pallets have traditionally been constructed from wood, there has been a shift towards making them from plastic and other composite materials. Subsequently, the storage and transportation industry has been inundated with questions about ‘the best’ pallet material type in relation to a supply chain. In addition, in a rapidly changing global manufacturing and storage environment, industry players have difficulty justifying the high capital cost of adopting new state-of-the-art pallets. This paper seeks to build a model to identify the best pallet material-of-construction (MOC) as perceived by the end consumer. The approach used for this was based on different stages of building an assistive multi-criteria decision model. This included modelling the decision framework using the analytic hierarchy process and undertaking an independent case study as the baseline for the modelling.
