Dermatophytosis is among the most common skin conditions in small animal clinics, in addition to being among the zoonoses that most affect adults and children. Considering the importance of this disease in dogs, the present study aimed to investigate, in light of the literature, the main pathophysiological aspects, diagnosis and treatment of canine dermatophytosis. The study was based on a narrative review of the literature, whose searches were carried out in the following databases: SCIELO, BDTD, VHL and books. Analysis of specialized literature showed that dermatophytosis is caused by dermatophytes, with the main causative fungal agents being Microsporum canis, M. gypseum and Trichophyton mentagrophytes. These are fungi that affect keratinized tissues, such as skin, nails and hair, causing characteristic and diverse lesions, depending on the causative agent and the immune status of the host. Clinical manifestations include alopecia, inflammation, pustules, circular lesions, crusts, scales and itching. The most recommended treatment for canine dermatophytosis includes the use of topical and systemic antifungals, depending on the stage of the disease. Topical antifungals, such as creams and shampoos, are used in mild or localized cases, while systemic antifungals, such as tablets, are indicated for more severe or disseminated infections. The correct diagnosis of this pathology, through clinical and laboratory examinations, is crucial for effective treatment and prevention of transmission to humans and other animals. The correct approach to canine dermatophytosis is vital for public health, as it is a zoonosis with significant transmission potential. Prevention and control strategies, combined with early diagnosis and adequate treatment, are essential to minimize the risks of infection and spread, protecting both animals and humans.

O hipercortisolismo, anteriormente denominado hiperadrenocorticismo, é uma endocrinopatia que afeta principalmente cães de meia idade a idosos. Caracteriza-se pela produção exacerbada de cortisol por parte das glândulas adrenais e pode ser classificada como: hormônio adrenocorticotrófico (ACTH) dependente, quando há correlação com a produção de ACTH endógeno pela hipófise; ACTH independente, nos casos em que as glândulas adrenais estão alteradas; ou iatrogênico, pela administração de glicocorticoides. Dentre os tratamentos disponíveis, o trilostano se destaca como o fármaco de primeira escolha, pois sua atuação diretamente nas glândulas adrenais, bloqueia a síntese de cortisol. O acompanhamento do paciente durante a terapêutica é desafiador, visto que não existe um exame padrão-ouro, portanto, para identificar resposta satisfatória ao tratamento, o clínico deve associar o resultado do teste de estimulação com ACTH com a melhora dos sinais clínicos. Dessa forma, o presente trabalho teve o objetivo de relatar o caso de uma paciente canina, com polifagia poliúria, polidipsia compensatória, intolerância ao exercício, organomegalia e dermatopatia com diagnóstico de hipercortisolismo ACTH dependente que apresentou resposta satisfatória a terapêutica com trilostano, diminuindo tanto as manifestações clínicas como as alterações laboratoriais e de imagem.

Acrobustitis is the inflammation of the distal prepuce, which can lead to a narrowing of the preputial ostium due to stenosis or growth of fibrous tissue after an inflammatory reaction. This condition usually occurs in cattle with long prepuce, such as Zebu or Zebu’s crossbreeds, leading the animal to Impotentia Coeundi, this condition is characterized by the bull's disability to copulate, that leads to lower herd fertility and consequent financial losses. Normally, corrective surgeries are performed on-farm and the animal is placed in a lateral recumbency. However, in some situations the animal is restrained with ropes and remains on the grass, dirt or even on uneven floors, which can cause neuropathies, bloat or hypoxia. Due to a series of complications that can occur in the postoperative period of surgery in the lateral recumbency, this article aims to describe the surgical technique for correcting acrobustitis with the animal in a standing position. Ten corrective surgeries for acrobustitis were performed in adult bulls between 4 and 8 years of age and predominantly of zebu or crossbreeds, with a total recovery of the animals for full reproductive activity.
