Background. Several studies have identified pregnant women as a vulnerable group during the COVID-19 pandemic. The perinatal period has been identified as a stage of great risk for the mental health of pregnant women, due to a large increase in mental pathologies during this period. In this context, the objective of the present study was to assess the associations between socioeconomic and demographic factors, health concerns and health information management, and anxiety level during the COVID-19 pandemic in pregnant Spanish women. Method. The sample of this cross-sectional study was comprised of 353 pregnant women, aged 18 or older and residing in Spain. Data collection was carried out from 1 June to 30 September 2020. Participants were recruited from Quirónsalud University Hospital of Madrid. Multilevel regression models were built to value the associations between demographic factors, health concerns and health information management, and anxiety level during the COVID-19 pandemic among pregnant women. Results. Reduced working hours and income due to the COVID-19 pandemic were related to increased anxiety levels, as was the level of concern about COVID-19 symptoms, potential complications, contagion and consequences for the baby. Worries caused by restrictive measures adopted against COVID-19 and resulting isolation, delivery, postpartum and breastfeeding were also associated with increased anxiety levels. Being a separated or divorced woman and being informed to a greater extent by a midwife were related to lower anxiety levels. An increase in the degree of information obtained about COVID-19 symptoms, complications, contagion and consequences for the baby, restrictive measures and isolation adopted against COVID-19, delivery, postpartum and breastfeeding, were also related to decreased anxiety levels. Conclusions. The most vulnerable future mothers in terms of anxiety levels are those with reduced working hours and income due to the COVID-19 pandemic, those with a higher level of concern and who had access to a lesser degree of information about COVID-19 (symptoms and complications, contagion and consequences on the baby, restrictive measures and isolation, delivery, postpartum and breastfeeding), as well as pregnant women who have obtained information about COVID-19 during pregnancy from TV.

Com o objetivo de discutir a perspectiva de profissionais de saúde sobre o cuidado às mulheres no climatério na Atenção Primária (AP), foi realizada pesquisa-intervenção por meio de oficinas com uma equipe da Estratégia Saúde da Família (ESF) e do Núcleo Ampliado de Saúde da Família (Nasf) de uma cidade paulista. Os trabalhadores reconheceram a ausência de ações ofertadas às mulheres climatéricas e a invisibilidade das demandas, ao relacionarem as queixas à Saúde Mental e relatarem estratégias de encaminhamento e medicalização do cuidado. Nos encontros, as equipes iniciaram as reflexões sobre as práticas e sugeriram a inclusão dessas mulheres em ações que já ocorrem nos serviços/territórios. Os depoimentos apontam para a inexistência de ações efetivas para as mulheres climatéricas, distanciando-se do cuidado integral na saúde da mulher e da construção coletiva de estratégias de cuidado nos contextos singulares de vida, território e gênero.

Aims To evaluate the efficacy of exercise‐based interventions and mind–body therapies on quality of life, menopausal symptoms, and depression among Asian perimenopausal women. Design A systematic review, meta‐analysis, and synthesis without meta‐analysis (SWiM). Data sources Six electronic databases were systematically searched: PubMed, CINAHL, Embase, PsycINFO, Scopus, and ProQuest. Review methods The point of inception of each database to 15 November 2018 were systematically searched. A meta‐analysis and SWiM were used to present the results. Review Manager 5.3 and The Cochrane Risk of Bias tool were used for meta‐analyses and assessing of risk of bias, respectively. Results In all, 23 studies were reviewed. Significant effects in exercise‐based interventions and mind–body therapies were found for quality of life, menopausal symptoms, and depression but not for hot flashes. Limitations of this review include insufficient blinding of participants and/or researchers found in most of the included studies and high levels of heterogeneity in the meta‐analyses. Evidence found in this review is to be interpreted with caution. Conclusion Healthcare professionals can consider exercise‐based interventions or mind–body therapies to manage menopausal symptoms. Future trials of good quality can examine the cost‐effectiveness and optimal intervention duration. Intervention effects on specific menopausal symptoms such as sleeplessness in Asia can be examined in future. Impact Exercise‐based interventions and mind–body therapies suggest effectiveness on quality of life, menopausal symptoms, and depression among Asian perimenopausal women. Exercise‐based interventions and mind–body therapies improve quality of life, menopausal symptoms, and depression but not hot flashes. Long‐term exercise‐based interventions is effective in managing depression. Due to varied limitations in the review and included studies, firm conclusions cannot be reached. Healthcare professionals in Asia can consider implementing exercise‐based interventions and mind–body therapies for symptomatic perimenopausal Asian women.
