Demulsification efficiency of some novel styrene/maleic anhydride ester copolymers

Abstract: Four demulsifiers were prepared in three steps. In the first step, styrene and maleic anhydride were copolymerized. In the second step, a long-chain alcohol (dodecanol) was reacted with the prepared copolymer to form the monoesterified copolymer. In the final step, the resulting product was further esterified with poly(propylene oxide) (PPO)-poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) block copolymers of different molecular weights (1.1, 2.5, 3.0, 5.0, and 8.0 3 10 3 ) and different PPO/PEO ratios.
