Decoupled active and reactive power control of a Doubly-Fed Induction Generator (DFIG)

Abstract: In This paper a decoupled control of a doublyfed induction machine used in generation mode (DFIG) is presented. It provides decoupled regulation of the primary side active and reactive power and it is suitable for both electric energy generation and drive applications. The mathematical model of the machine written in an appropriate d-q reference frame is established to investigate simulations. In order to control the power flowing between the stator of the DFIG and the network, a decoupled control of active an… Show more

“…Control structures that are well known in the literature [94][95][96][97][98] The control described above has been implemented with four regulators in [99][100][101], while in [102] it has been realised with only two for a system that is easier to tune and with reduced complexity. However, in the latter approach, a slight coupling has been detected and discussed by the author, which does not considerably affect the independent PQ control according to his demonstration.…”

“…It is possible to perform input-output linearization on the dynamic model of the DFIGs with the use of the previously analyzed Lie algebra-based approach or with the use of the differential flatness theory-based approach. Next, state and disturbance estimation can be performed on the DFIGs' transformed model using the derivative-free nonlinear Kalman filter [59]- [62].…”

“…Alternatively energy sources are the energy sources different from those in wide spread use at the moments (which are referred to as conventional). Alternative energy sources include solar, wind, wave, and tidal, hydroelectric and geothermal energy [1]. Although they each have their own drawbacks, none of these energy sources produces significant air pollution, unlike conventional sources.…”
