Indonesia is the largest coffee producer in the world after Brazil, Vietnam and Colombia, but it was confronted with market problems. This paper, therefore, analysed the demand system as the position market for Indonesian coffee, either green bean or roasted coffee in the main importing countries such as Germany, Japan and The United States. The linear Approximate Almost Ideal Demand System (LA/AIDS) model was used to analyse the position of Indonesian coffee and its competitors. Time series data from 1996 to 2017 were obtained for the analysis. Empirical results indicated that most of the slope coefficients were statistically significant and in accordance with microeconomic theory. The variables of trade policy effected the Indonesian coffee trade. Indonesian green bean was found to be elastic in Germany, Japan, and The United States. Then, Indonesian roasted coffee was found to be inelastic in Japan. Indonesian green bean was a luxury good only in Germany, but Indonesian roasted coffee was an inferior good in Germany and The United States. Both Indonesian green bean and roasted coffee were a necessity in Japan. Almost Indonesian coffee substitute for Brazilian coffee and Colombian coffee, and complementary with Vietnamese coffee as its competitor.

Rubber commodity is one of the plantation commodities that supports agroforestry, besides that it is one of the attractors in the creation of labor in rural areas. The economic linkages around intensive plantations will affect development of rubber in agroforestry areas. Rubber agroforestry is important because demands of global trade will encourage the development of agroforestry itself. For this reason, this paper can provide a description of the rubber economy in supporting the national economy. The data used is secondary data including national and global data, especially for countries of ITRC forum group members. The analytical method uses Principal Component Analysis which is expected to provide an overview of the conditions for the development of the national rubber economy. The results showed that 55.34 percent indicated that the economic development of rubber was already export-oriented, while 8.56 percent indicated that global production would affect the decline in rubber area, while 13.70 percent of the global relative price had its own characteristics. Thus, it can be seen that the challenges ahead, need to anticipate the development of rubber cultivation, both in monoculture and agroforestry plantations, which can support each other with an interconnected agribusiness system for harmony with global demand.

Rubber as an export commodity plays an important role in the national economy. Rubber prices fluctuate and tend to decline leading to lower national as rubber areas converted to other more prospective commodities. Downstream rubber industry enhancement is crucial for improving domestic rubber consumption and price stabilization in Indonesia. Export reduction policy carried out by the government for price stabilization is effective but only in the short term. Therefore, downstream rubber industry development is essential to deal with global rubber price fluctuation. Continuous supply and quality maintenance are crucial. Replanting should be implemented such that yield increases and its quality may compete with that imported. AbstrakKaret sebagai komoditas ekspor memiliki peran penting dalam perekonomian nasional. Harga karet yang fluktuatif dan menurun dapat memengaruhi produksi karet nasional karena alih fungsi lahan perkebunan karet ke komoditas lain yang lebih prospektif. Hal tersebut akan berdampak pada menurunnya devisa negara dan kesejahteraan petani. Pengembangan hilirisasi karet merupakan salah satu upaya untuk meningkatkan serapan karet dalam negeri guna mengurangi pengaruh fluktuasi harga karet. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pentingnya pengembangan hilirisasi karet dalam mencapai kestabilan harga karet di Indonesia. Kebijakan pengurangan ekspor yang dilakukan pemerintah dalam rangka stabilisasi harga karet cukup efektif, namun hanya berpengaruh dalam jangka pendek. Oleh karena itu pengembangan hilirisasi karet diperlukan untuk mengurangi pengaruh fluktuasi harga karet internasional. Pengembangan hilirisasi karet memerlukan dukungan pemerintah dalam berbagai aspek. Untuk menjaga kontinuitas dan kualitas karet untuk bahan baku industri hilir maka upaya peremajaan karet harus dilakukan agar produktivitas karet meningkat serta kualitasnya dapat bersaing dengan karet impor
