The present paper is concerned with the morphology and crystal structure of extended organic compounds in the space group P 2Jc. I n the structures with molecules in general position (2 = 4) the longitudinal axis of all molecules run parallel to a (h0l)-plane. The molecule arrangements are based on four different structure types. The planes through the molecule axis contain a) %-axis and symmetry centres (I = 2n), b) %,-axis or symmetry centres (I! = 2n + 1) and c) respectively d) no symmetry element (I = 2n resp. 2n + 1).In the last two cases the net plane distances are to be halved. As in P 2,/c the a-und caxis are not set, one can confine oneself to the examination of the net planes (i02), (202), (204), and (a04). In the cases of a) and b), only certain morphological lattices appear, which distinguish themselves through additional translations in three-dimensional space resp. in the projections. I n the cmes of c) and d) there are also found morphological lattices which generate additional "morphological extinctions" (consequently possessing a higher symmetry than the generating space group), but which contain no translationally higher symmetry. (h0Z)-faces, to which the molecule axis run parallel, appear with preference on crystals. As a rule the first two and the last two cases can be differentiated on account of the position of the (h0I)-faces in the Donnay-Harker series. Some examples will show that the morphological lattice can be preserved through Fourier transformation of crystal morphology.Die vorliegende Arbeit beschiiftigt sich mit der Morphologie und den Kristallstrukturen gestreckter organischer Verbindungen in der Raumgruppe P 2Jc. I n den Strukturen mit Molekiilen allgemeiner Lage (2 = 4) verlaufen die Liingsachsen aller Molektile parallel zu einer (h0Z)-Ebene. Den Molekulanordnungen liegen vier verschiedene Strukturtypen zugrunde. Die Ebenen durch die Molekulachsen enthalten a) 2,-Achsen und Symmetriezentren ( I = %n), b) 2,-Achsen oder Symmetriezentren (I! = 2n + 1) und c) bzw. d ) kein Symmetrieelement ( I = 2n bzw. 2n + 1). I n den beiden letzten Fiillen sind die Netzebenenabstande zu halbieren. Da in P 2,/c die a-und c-Achsen nicht festgelegt sind, kann man sich auf die Betrachtung der Ebenen (i02), (202), (204) und (804) beschriinken. I n den Fiillen a) und b) treten nur ganz bestimmte morphologische Gitter auf, die sich durch zusatzliche Tivxslationen im dreidimensionalen Raum bzw. in den Projektionen auszeichnen. In den Fallen c) und d) werden auch morphologische Gitter gefunden, die zusatzliche ,,morpkologische Ausloschungen" erzeugen (also eine hohere Symmetrie als die der erzeugendcc Raumgruppe besitzen), aber keine translationshbhere Symmetrie enthalten. (h0Z)-Fliichen. zu denen die Molekiilachsen parallel verlaufen, treten bevorzugt an den Kristallen auf. Zwischen den beiden ersten und den beiden letzten Fallen kann in der Regel aufgrund der Stellung der (h0Z)-Fliichen in der Donnay-Harker Reihe unterschieden werden.
