On crystal chemistry and morphology of extended organic molecules

Abstract: The present paper is concerned with the morphology and crystal structure of extended organic compounds in the space group P 2Jc. I n the structures with molecules in general position (2 = 4) the longitudinal axis of all molecules run parallel to a (h0l)-plane. The molecule arrangements are based on four different structure types. The planes through the molecule axis contain a) %-axis and symmetry centres (I = 2n), b) %,-axis or symmetry centres (I! = 2n + 1) and c) respectively d) no symmetry element (I = 2n r… Show more

“…The derivation of the morphological lattice is also possible by a sign determination with the help of the Goldschmidt complication series (Follner and Schwarz, 1980;Follner, 1981). Assuming that (101), on account of the dominance of (201) in this axial zone, is at least to be modified as (202), the face indices of the nine most frequent faces belong to the four indices sets EEE (4), OOE (3), OOO (1) and EEO (1) (E even, O odd).…”
