“…Studies related to the comparison of the Nursing language are developed in order to standardize it, in the scientific realm of Nursing, by means of cross-mapping technique, which allows researchers to make the correspondence between the aspects of the Nursing process exclusive of the nurse, such as diagnoses, results and/or Nursing interventions developed and contained in the Nursing classification systems, as well as in official documents, such as records. 3 The merit of the cross-mapping technique is the characterization as a didactic material to verify the relevance of the decisions taken from the clinical reasoning of the nurse.…”

“…Using the cross mapping is essential to show the usefulness of standardized language in Nursing care 19 and to identify possible gaps in clinical practice, in addition to acting in the teaching of the use of standardized systems of languages to Nursing professionals. 3 The language standardization allows, through studies such as this one, a better provision of Nursing care, with the representation of the professional practice throughout the world based on data for use in care, better communication between the professionals and the documentation of the practice. 12 In the previous study, whose results were used 8 in this one, the authors raised listed Nursing diagnoses based on the pathophysiological model of heart failure and on the ICNP™, highlighting the essential aspect of analysis by means of cross mapping, in order to verify the convergence with the Nursing classification systems and, thus, achieve the proof of the usefulness for the Nursing clinical practice in the health situation in question.…”

“…Studies carrying out cross-mappings of Nursing diagnoses and interventions in patients undergoing THA have already been conducted (8)(9)(10)(11) . However, with respect to the NOC outcomes, it was not possible to find studies in the Nursing field using this method with this population with records of other professions, such as physiotherapy (9)(10)(11) .…”

“…Cross-mapping is a nursing strategy that verifies the relevance of decisions arising from clinical reasoning [ 7 ] and is a stage in the construction of terminological subsets of the International Classification for Nursing Practice (ICNP) [ 8 ]. The construction of subsets of the ICNP and the cross-mapping of its terms with other terminologies are supported by the electronic health (eHealth) program of the International Council of Nurses [ 9 ].…”
