“…For use in the tests, the FCAV#569 isolate of B. euphorbiae was grown in Petri dishes containing the Pontecorvo minimal medium, modified by supplementation with peptone (2 g L -1 ) and with the substitution of glucose by starch (10 g L -1 ) (Penariol et al, 2008b). The fungus was kept at 25 ± 0.5°C for 10 days, with a 12-h photoperiod.…”

“…When setting up the assays, the fungus was cultivated in Petri dishes containing modified minimal Pontecorvo medium (Pontecorvo et al 1953) and modified by Penariol et al (2008). The final composition of the growth medium was: 6.0 g NaNO 3 ; 1.52 g KH 2 PO 4 ; 0.52 g MgSO 4 7H 2 O; 0.52 g KCl; 0.01 g FeSO 4 ; 0.01 g ZnSO 4 ; 10 g starch; 2.0 g peptone, 15 g agar and 1,000 ml distilled water.…”

“…The nutritional needs of B. euphorbiae were studied by Penariol et al (2008), who observed enhanced growth and sporulation when using starch and sodium nitrate, respectively, as sources of carbon and nitrogen, and monobasic potassium phosphate and calcium phosphate as sources of phosphorus. According to these authors, enrichment of the growth medium by adding peptone and yeast extract had a positive influence on growth and sporulation, while the production of conidia was the only factor affected by the addition of vitamins.…”
