“…Indirect coupling of the increase in hippocampal theta power to the contralateral forepaw control was also suggested by the long 6-s interval between the initiation of the theta increase and the start of lever pressing ( Fig 4 ). Ohishi et al (2003) reported that the evoked potential recorded in the contralateral forelimb motor cortex started 0.5–1.5 s before self-paced lever pressing and was eliminated by the ipsilateral hemicerebellectomy [ 33 ]. This suggested that pre-movement potential directly coupled to the control of contralateral forelimb started approximately 1 s before the lever press, which was much shorter than the start of increase in the hippocampal theta power in the present study.…”
