“…Correspondence training is defined as an operant procedure that modifies a nonverbal behavior by reinforcing the correspondence between verbal behavior and nonverbal behavior (Baer, 1990;Risley & Hart, 1968). According to Huffman et al (2016), correspondence training employs a Say-Do procedure in which children verbalize plans to conduct a nonverbal behavior, carry out the behavior and receive reinforcement for emitting that behavior at a later time. Since the 1960s, correspondence training procedures have been applied to a broad range of target behaviors, including appropriate use of play materials, maintaining on-task behavior, demonstrating compliance and tolerance, demonstrating appropriate social behavior, applying self-care skills, and making verbal mediating responses (Baer, 1990).…”
