Correction to Sesquiterpene Lactones from Anthemis melanolepis and Their Antibacterial and Cytotoxic Activities. Prediction of Their Pharmacokinetic Profile

Abstract: The formula that has been used for the calculation of the LC 50 values is 100 × (T − T 0 /T 0 ) = −50.The authors regret any inconvenience caused by the omission of this information at the time of publication.

“…Nine sesquiterpene lactones, anthemin A, 1α-hydroxydeacetylirinol-4 α,5β-epoxide, anthemin C, tatridin A, 1-epi-tatridin B, anthemin B, 6-deacetyl-β-cyclopyrethrosin, elegalactone A and 1β,4 α,6trihydroxyeudesm-11-en-8 -12-olide were isolated from the aerial parts of Anthemis melanolepis. All sesquiterpene lactones showed an inhibitory effect against almost all fungi tested (Saroglou et al, 2010), which adds to evidence from previous studies concerning related compounds isolated from other Anthemis species (Konstantinopoulou et al, 2003).…”

“…2,3 The genus Anthemis is characterized mainly by the presence of sesquiterpene lactones, belonging to germacranolides, eudesmanolides, guaianolides and flavonoids. [4][5][6] Constituents of Anthemis species were proven to exert anti-inflammatory, hepatoprotective and antioxidant activities. 7,8 Anthemis species are commonly used in folk medicine in the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders, hemorrhoid, dysmenorrhoea and stomach ache in Turkish traditional medicine.…”

“…(Asteraceae), some of which showed antimicrobial activity with both Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria and fungi and possessed cytotoxic potential in human cancer cell lines (Saroglou et al 2010). We report here the chemical constituents and cytotoxic activities of methanol and dichloromethane (DCM) extracts of entire A. mirheydari plants, which is an annual and endemic specie growing wild in the southern parts of Iran.…”

“…Thirty-nine annual and perennial species of the genus Anthemis are found in Iran, including 15 endemic (Mozaffarian 1996). The cytotoxic activity of different species of Anthemis is attributed to the presence of different types of natural products such as sesquiterpenes lactones (Collu et al 2008;Saroglou et al 2010;Bai et al 2011). The essential oils of Anthemis xylopoda O. Schwarz (Asteraceae) from Turkey consist of mostly monoterpenoids that exhibit potent antibacterial properties (Uzel et al 2004).…”
