There was a significant change in the educational process during the covid 19 pandemic. These changes had an impact on all aspects of education, including the operation of teaching student character. This study aims to reveal teacher readiness in terms of pedagogic and personality competencies, learning strategies, and challenges faced in the implementation of character education during the pandemic. This research is included in the category of qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. The main subjects of the study were fifteen people who were religious teachers in public and private high schools in Indonesia. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with interview guide instruments that had been prepared and designed based on theoretical analysis. The data analysis technique uses the stages of data classification, data presentation, and data interpretation. The results of the study indicate that in terms of pedagogical competence and personality, teachers already have clear standards. Based on sufficient work experience, development in the form of continuous training, as well as an educator certificate held in the pedagogical aspect. In addition, the environment can provide an influence as well as a learning context. Meanwhile, from personal competence, most teachers have a vital role in society as religious and community leaders. Another finding is that the character education model carried out by the teacher is divided into three, namely experiential learning, inquiry, and collaboration. The challenges that arise in the implementation of character education are the limitations in facilities, support, and motivation of parents at home and the ability of students to participate in learning.

The main problem of private schools is the difficulty of finding new learners (NL), exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic, making private schools even more slumped, including private Centers of Excellence Vocational High School (VHS CoE). Research objectives is to analyze; (1) promotion strategies for the private VHS CoE, (2) the impact of the VHS CoE on the interest of NL, and (3) the benefits of the VHS CoE. Qualitative descriptive research methods. The research sample was four private VHS CoE. Stages of research; (1) formulate problems, (2) determine the subject, (3) compile interview guidelines, (4) collect data, (5) sort and analyze data, (6) make conclusions. The results: (1) the private VHS CoE conduct direct socialization to pre-VHS, school residents, related institutions, and the community, and form a management team. Direct socialization is the most effective promotion strategy compared to other strategies, (2) the VHS CoE has an impact on NL interest fluctuatingly. The school program is the main consideration for NL to register at VHS CoE, while according to interests and talents is the main reason for NL to choose a flagship expertise program, and (3) the benefits of the VHS CoE, among others; improving the quality of schools, making it easier to get a job, and according to industry needs. The results of the study are expected to be the consideration of relevant agencies in making policies for the VHS CoE and for preparing strategies for capturing NL for private vocational schools.

<p style="text-align: justify;">Teaching a subject in a vocational high school (VHS) requires specialized instructional design strategies. Recently, instructional VHS used a computer-based platform to teach theory and practice. The computer will assist teachers in creating instructional media. This study aims to design augmented reality-based virtual laboratory media for electro-pneumatic practicum learning in order to ease teachers and students to learn the pneumatic practice. It is specially designed for practical learning purposes. The method used in this research is research and development. The assessment results from Instructional design experts 4.5, material experts 4.5, media experts 4.4, and language experts 4.8. Based on the assessment of experts, this augmented reality-based virtual laboratory media is feasible to use. Next, the results of this study are a prototype of students' pneumatic practice tools installed on mobile phones consisting of eight worksheets. In the designed augmented reality media, 1) 3-dimensional pneumatics can be rotated in all directions so that students understand. 2) Pneumatic job sheet, where on the augmented reality media designed for the simulation circuit, there is an explanation of the components and how they work, and a simulation through markers.</p>
