“…As a relevant element, findings suggest that the context variables with greater weight in the result are university students' academic antecedents as Dziuban and Moskal (2011a); Xiao (2018), Paul and Jefferson (2019), and Torres and Parra (2019) suggest, and the quality conditions of both institution and programs (Saavedra, 2009;Balapumi et al, 2016).…”

“…The practice of CP in Colombia is mixed with the history of the construction of the profession of psychologist in that country, a history marked by political disputes between professional classes, repressions by the dictatorship and the need for great militancy to build this profession (Klappenbach, 2000). Currently, in the country, there is an ethical discussion in the context of CP services, aiming to systematise protocols based on international regulations, such as those of the American Psychological Association, the Canadian Psychological Association and the New Zealand Psychologists Board (Torres & Parra, 2019). This demand arises, in large part, from the COVID-19 pandemic and the increase in demand for remote assistance, with the need for greater systematisation of techniques, platform administration and ethical aspects.…”

“…In relation to the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, which is still highly unstable and with different scenarios and perspectives among Latin American countries, there is a need for psychological counselling to reflect on its position in the provision of care in the face of this health crisis. Although we can find successful experience reports in the context of the pandemic in different countries (Evangelista & Cardoso, 2020;Torres & Parra, 2019), it is necessary that this field takes a more direct position in relation to the limitations and potential of counselling at this historic time. Investing in research is needed, allowing technical and theoretical increments in line with contemporary challenges: how to promote online care, for example, in scenarios where there is little or no access to the Internet, in which professionals are unable to compose a setting for these consultations, in which there is no integrated health network capable of receiving more serious cases, for example, involving suicidal ideation?…”
