Concentric and eccentric isokinetic resistance training similarly increases muscular strength, fat-free soft tissue mass, and specific bone mineral measurements in young women

Abstract: Regardless of the mode, high-intensity, slow-velocity IRT increases muscular strength and FFSTM of trained limbs and imparts benefits to TB BMC and site-specific BMD and BMC in young women.

“…Females with 8 months of training showed a 1.2% improvement in bone density, and 20 weeks of training for young people resulted in a significant increase as well. 23,24 After the analysis of strength exercise in controls, low, and high intensities for 1 year, the high-intensity exercise group showed improvement in BMD. 25 It was reported that endurance running exercise was also helpful to BMD.…”

“…The development of isokinetic strength and skeletal response according to rising age in sports practice is one of the main focuses of several studies [1,2,4,[5][6][7][8]. However, it seems that soccer practice, requiring the repetition of several technical skills, such as kicking, jumping and landing, can promote bilateral differences between dominant and nondominant lower limbs [7], and further studies are required to understand this phenomenon [1].…”

“…Providing attention on both strength and BMD is also paying attention on injuries. Strength adaptation on a soccer player conducts at different development in the hamstrings and quadriceps and these are the major worry because of several injuries associated to strength unbalances [7]. On the other hand, increasing BMD provides a protection against possible bone fractures [2,4].…”

“…Isokinetic resistance training is powerful in improving muscular strength coming about because of high strengths delivered by muscles contracting at a consistent speed through the whole scope of joint movement. Isokinetic activities might be performed concentrically or eccentrically as external forces are applied to the limb [12]. Plyometric activities defined as eccentric loading instantly took after by a concentric contraction.…”
