Comprehensive Study on Elastic Moduli Prediction and Correlation of Glass and Glass Ceramic Derived from Waste Rice Husk

Abstract: Zinc silicate (ZnO-SiO 2 ) systems were fabricated using zinc oxide (ZnO) and white rice husk ash (WRHA) with compositions of (ZnO) x (WRHA) 1−x ( = 0.55, 0.60, 0.65, and 0.70 wt.%) was symbolized by S1, S2, S3, and S4, respectively. The ZnO-SiO 2 samples were fabricated by applying the melt-quench method and the physical and elastic properties of the samples were investigated. Physical properties used in this study are density and molar volume while the theoretical elastic moduli of the samples produced were … Show more

“…This may be due to the breakage of the P–O–P bonds in the phosphate network resulting in terminal oxygen formation. At high mole percentage of calcium fluoride and one mole percentage of titanium oxide content in the bioglasses it leads to ionic crosslink bridges between the nonbridging oxygen of phosphate network 15–17 …”

[15][16][17] Followed by density study, pulse echo method was used to measure various elastic moduli (Young's, Shear, Bulk, and Longitudinal), which provides an idea regarding the strength and interatomic potential of the biomaterial. The load bearing capacity of the prepared materials used for bone implants is assessed by their elastic properties.…”

“…In the literature, the value of Poisson's ratio for similar bismuth zinc borosilicate glass frits range between 0.25 and 0.33. 24,25 The value of the Young's modulus of the enamel n°2 measured by curvature technique is approximately 40 GPa, by using a Poisson's ratio of 0.27. In the literature, the average Young's modulus of the enamel n°2, measured by nanoindentation technique, has been reported to be 96.4 ± 27.1 GPa.…”
