Composição e variação sazonal do óleo essencial de Myrcia obtecta (O. Berg) Kiaersk. var. obtecta, Myrtaceae

Abstract: were analyzed by capillary GC and GC/MS. Fifty-five components were identified in the leaf oils, which were characterized by predominance of cyclic sesquiterpenes (around 70%) and variable amounts of monoterpenes (5.6-16.7%), aliphatic compounds (0.4-5.5%) and methyl salicylate (0.1-1.5%). The major component in all samples was trans-calamenene (17.0-29.3%). The composition did not show significant seasonal variation, except in October (flowering) when α-terpineol and trans-calamenene peaked (11.2% and 29.3%, … Show more

“…var. obtecta the variability in the EOs composition of leaves due to seasonality was also not observed, but it occurred due to physiology/ plant phenology, since a different chemical composition was detected in the flowering period 46 . Differences among the EOs composition of the leaves and reproductive organs are expected, since the aroma emitted by the inflorescences are associated to the attraction of specific pollinators, still acting to protect the reproductive organs against possible enemies 47,48 .…”

“…According to STEFANELLO et al, (2010), compounds with relative amounts higher than 8% were considered major components. Therefore, the major compounds found at all hydrodistillation times (1, 2, 3, 4, 3, and 5h) were the oxygenated sesquiterpenes spathulenol (11.50-20.66%)and caryophyllene oxide (10.03-14.42%).…”

“…Essential oils of 17 species of the genus Myrcia were studied and there was predominance of cyclic sesquiterpenes (CERQUEIRA et al, 2007;SILVA et al, 2007;STEFANELLO et al, 2010) (CASCAES et al, 2015).…”
