“…That study represented a clinical trial comparing the potential of N. sativa to that of betamethasone and eucerin, potent glucocorticoids steroid with anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties, to alleviate hand eczema. The results indicated that N. sativa seems to be as efficacious as betamenthasone in improving the clinical condition and life quality of eczema patients and decreasing the severity of the condition [35]. In a recent study, Abdel-Aziz and colleagues suggested that N. sativa fixed oil reduces peripheral blood eosinophil count and improves lung inflammation in a murine model of allergic asthma [36].…”

“…Yousefi and colleagues evaluated the physiological significance of the anti-inflammatory properties of N. sativa in treating hand eczema [35]. That study represented a clinical trial comparing the potential of N. sativa to that of betamethasone and eucerin, potent glucocorticoids steroid with anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties, to alleviate hand eczema.…”

“…There was no significant difference in the mean DLQI and HECSI of N. sativa and betamethasone groups over time. TQ, dithymoquinone, and thymohydroquinone were mentioned in this study as effective constituents of the plant (Yousefi et al, 2013). This clinical trial (randomized, controlled, and double-blind) were well designed and the process of recruitment, random allocation, and analysis of participants (n=68) were mentioned.…”

“…Nigella sativa and Betamethasone ointments caused significant decreases in DLQI scores compared with Eucerin (P < 0.0001 and P = 0.007 respectively). There was no significant difference observed in mean DLQI and HECSI of the Nigella sativa and Betamethasone groups over time (P = 0.38 and P = 0.99 respectively), which showed that Nigella sativa might have the same efficacy as Betamethasone in the improvement of life quality and decreasing the severity of hand eczema 48 .…”
