Comparison of haematological parameters determined by the Sysmex KX - 2IN automated haematology analyzer and the manual counts

Abstract: BackgroundThis study was designed to determine the correlation between heamatological parameters by Sysmex KX-21N automated hematology analyzer with the manual methods.MethodSixty (60) subjects were randomly selected from both apparently healthy subjects and those who have different blood disorders from the University of Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Ituku-Ozalla, Enugu, Enugu State, Nigeria. Three (3)mls of venous blood sample was collected aseptically from each subject into tri-potassium ethylenediamine tetra-ac… Show more

“…Phytochemical and proximate analyses of garlic powder were also respectively conducted at Indonesian Spice and Medicinal Crops Research Institute and Animal Feed Material Laboratory, Faculty of Animal Sciences, Jenderal Soedirman University. The hematological analyses covering the erythrocytes, hemoglobin, hematocrits, MCV, MCH, MCHC, and thrombocytes were conducted at Biofit in Purwokerto by The Sysmex XP-100 automated hematology analyzer (Ike et al, 2010;Karem et al, 2016).…”

“…The haematocrit values obtained through the manual and automated procedures correlate well (Ike et al, 2010;Kaznowska-Bystryk, 2011;Gebretsadkan et al, 2015). However, despite the strong positive correlation between the two methods, the spun haematocrit is sometimes significantly higher or lower than automated haematocrit (Bull & Hay, 2001;Ike et al, 2010;Gebretsadkan et al, 2015). This is the first report of comparison of manual and automated haematocrit analyser designed for Veterinary use in Nigeria to the best of our knowledge.…”

“…The automated haematology analyser has better precision than the manual microhaematocrit (Gebretsadkan et al, 2015).
