Comparative pharmacokinetics study of six effective components between two dosage forms of Qixue–Shuangbu Prescription in rats by UPLC–MS/MS

Abstract: Qixue-Shuangbu Prescription (QSP) is an efficacious prescription for treating heart failure, myocardial ischemia and other diseases. It is composed of nine Chinese herbs. This study investigated and compared the pharmacokinetics of QSP in rats by UPLC-MS/MS between two dosage forms of traditional decoction (TD) and compound tincture (CT). Owing to the complexity of the chemicals in QSP, ginsenoside Rg1, ginsenoside Re, ferulic acid, astragaloside IV, rhein and calycosin were chosen for the pharmacokinetics stud… Show more

“…Based on the TCM theory, different adjuvants might partake in physical or chemical transformation to alter pharmacological effects and exert the pharmacokinetic behavior for the enhanced therapeutic effect. In the previous study, we have detected differences in chemical compositions between CQSP and PQSP [ 26 ]. There were 101 common peaks of compounds in both CQSP and PQSP, in which 31 analytes increased and 38 analytes reduced in PQSP.…”

“…There were 101 common peaks of compounds in both CQSP and PQSP, in which 31 analytes increased and 38 analytes reduced in PQSP. The pharmacokinetic parameters of main bioactive components indicated longer lasting time elimination, better bioavailability and absorption for enhancing the effect in the treatment of CHF in the PQSP group than that of the CQSP group [ 17 , 26 ].…”

“…Qixue Shuangbu Prescription (QSP), a classical traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) prescription, has been widely applied in the treatment of chronic heart failure (CHF) [1,2]. According to the requirements of TCM clinical medication, five Chinese medicinal herbs contained in QSP must be processed to improve the curative effect.…”

“…Previously, we have prepared QSP as a compound tincture, which can effectively improve bioavailability [19]. However, the alcohol in the tincture limits its range of application and reduces compliance.…”
