Comparative Analysis on Bus Operation Duration Light and Rush Traffic Period

Abstract: Buses are the most widely used in transit technology today. Due to the limited other types of public transportation, passenger demand for using the bus network is higher. In fact, static structure and real operation of bus scheduling have some difference with each other, due to some cases, such as traffic congestion and accumulation of delays of buses missions. The most different on bus operation elements is duration rush traffic period that standard deviation is very far in compare by duration light traffic p… Show more

Meanwhile, Hafezi, Ismail, Al-Mansob, & Kohzadi Seifabad (2012) make a conclusion that during light traffic periods buses can follow their scheduling exactly, as there is no traffic congestion and demand is lower. Napiah & Yaakub (2010) used the concept on board method instead of off board method.…”

“…In order to reduce these losses, it is required to create an efficient method to resolve traffic congestion and reduce the delay time (Hashimoto, 1990;Hafezi et al, 2012a). Vehicle fuel consumption increases approximately 30% under heavily congestion (Hafezi et al, 2012c;Ismail et al, 2012a). Jennifer and Oliver (1996) found that the availability of the pre-trip information to the driver enhances drivers' self-belief to use the best route and allow commuters to make better-informed transit choices Travelers information and guidance saves travel time and helps a traveler to avoid congestion on the other hand it can improve traffic network performance and it's more efficient than paper maps or written instruction (Ismail et al, 2012b, c, e).…”
