Compact reconfigurable antenna for Wi-Fi, WiMax and 4G communication technologies

Abstract: A novel reconfigurable patch antennas with slot for Frequency diversity is fabricated and developed in this paper. This proposed design approach is base on the use of two switches in order to obtain frequency reconflgurabiliry to cover several wireless and mobile standards. Substrate used is FR4 (45 x38 x1.5) mnr': Er= 4.4.

“…Most of the proposed MIMO antennas have a fixed frequency band of operation. However, due to increasing demand for wireless handheld devices which can operate in multiple communication systems with different frequency standardisations, having antennas with the capability of supporting multiple operational frequency bands is so desirable and consequently several reconfigurable antennas and modules have been proposed in the literature [6–10]. Moreover, frequency reconfigurable MIMO antenna will provide more flexibility as it can be controlled to operate in different desired frequencies and thereby the need for using multiple antennas in a small device could be eliminated.…”
