Combinatorial weighting method for lightning transformation effect evaluation of 500kV transmission lines

Abstract

As the effe cti ve lightnin g prote ction measu res can improve the ligh tning protection pe rforman ce of transmission line an d re du ce line shieldin g failure rate , an assessment me thod based on combin atorial weigh ting method is proposed to formulate lightning protection measures in accordan ce with the e valuation process of screen-selection-optimization. Econ omi c an d techni cal analysis of se veral commonly use d lightning transformati ons is pe rformed firs t to ve rify their effecti veness . Then the combinatorial weigh ting method is applie d to cal culate the weight value of these measu res relati ve to the target according to the relationshi p between objecti ves an d gui delines, fu rthermore the theoreti cal optimal ligh tning protecti on measu re is selecte d. The appli cation of this meth od is illustrate d with a typical 500 kV trans mission line un de r complex te rrain, an d the expe cte d e valuati on result sh ows the lightnin g protection pe rforman ce can meet the trans formation requi rements .
