“…The search for alternatives to control R. microplus is one of the biggest challenges for cattle production as illustrated by several reports about emergence of multi-resis ta nt tick populations (Tavares et al, 2022). This study presents in silico and in vitro evidence of inhibition of R. microplus GST by the purified plant alkaloid anonaine, which improved the cypermethrin in vitro larvicidal effect.…”

“…Previous studies have shown that EOs can inhibit detoxifying enzymes and improve the overall toxicity of synthetic insecticides by increasing their bioavailability and interaction with the target site in the insect 44 . Notably, some studies have reported the use of EOs or major compounds as synergists of CP against arthropod pests 20–25 . However, to the best of our knowledge, this is the first report on the formulation of a single NE that combines EO and CP in the same formulation using Tween 80 and ultrasound.…”

“…Moreover, it was reported that monoterpenes such as linalool and 1,8‐cineole improved CP effects on Spodoptera litura Fabricius (Lepidoptera, Noctuidae) 23 . Additionally, thymol combined with CP increased acaricidal efficacy against Rhipicephalus microplus Canestrii (Ixodida, Ixodidae) by four‐fold 24 . Finally, Jesser et al 20,25 .…”

“…Two monoterpenes (carvacrol and thymol) were used alone or in combination with cypermethrin to control R. microplus. It was observed that thymol enhances cypermethrin toxicity ( Tavares et al., 2022b ), and that both monoterpenes increased the activity of antioxidant and detoxifying enzymes (glutathione-S-transferase, catalase, superoxide dismutase, and glutathione peroxidase) in the R. microplus ticks ( Tavares et al., 2022a ). The combination of essential oils from Cinnamomum zeylanicum , Cuminum cyminum , and Pimenta dioica in emulsion preparations showed a synergic effect against R. microplus ( Lazcano Díaz et al., 2019 ).…”
